Partnership with Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines

21 February 2022: To mark the most joyous occasion of the 42nd Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King, Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines announced the launch of new varieties of organic fresh snacks: Roasted Peanuts & Mix Fruit Candy on board, in collaboration with OGOP (One Gewog, One Product).

The partnership comes as an effort to support and promote Bhutanese products from rural grassroots economies that are made with local wisdom, tradition, and utilization of community resources. The OGOP Programme, under the Queen’s Project Office, supports community development and the enhancement of rural livelihoods, by providing assistance in all phases of the production cycle right from sourcing raw materials, product creation and diversification to value chain improvements, package designing, testing, quality assurance, standardization, marketing and sales.

Drukair stated that they are ‘happy to play a small part in helping achieve the programme’s key objective, which is to link authentic quality Bhutanese products to a larger market.’

We thank Druk Air for this wonderful initiative to help local farmers and small businesses.

About the products:

Roasted Peanuts

Peanuts are one of the main cash crops grown in Khamdang and Toedtsho Gewog, Tashiyangtse Dzongkhag. The roasted peanuts are a crunchy, flavoursome snack and are being produced in blister packs, making it convenient for travel, as well as for portion and freshness.

Mix Fruit Candy

A light and delicious fruit candy made from dehydrated gooseberry (amla), and wild apples, naturally grown in the pristine valleys of Bhutan. It combines the sweet, tangy flavours of the nutritious amla fruit, along with the crisp wild apples and makes a portable, healthy snack.
